Uses for Coconut Oil in Cooking

The first thing to check is that the coconut oil you're using is suitable for cooking. Luckily our Niharti Coconut oil is food grade and ideal for use as an ingredient!

Coconut oil is one of the healthiest oils to use for frying due to it's high smoke point (around 175C) and stability - studies have shown that quality of coconut oil doesn't deteriorate even after 8 hours of deep frying at 180C (source) although we don't recommend doing this in practice!

As an ingredient, coconut oil adds that tropical flourish to a meal. Most people will be familiar with it as an essential ingredient in curries or desert. However there are many ways you might not have thought of - we'll defer here to the BBC Food website who have loads of recipes!

And not a morning goes by here at Niharti HQ where someone isn't adding a little coconut oil to their coffee or porridge (try it, it's amazing!)

Uses for Coconut Oil in Beauty

Using coconut oil at room temperature makes it a creamy solid, one that you can massage into your hair after shampooing. Leave it in there for five minutes after twisting your hair into a bun, and then rinse. You will be left with beautifully moisturised hair that will feel incredibly soft to touch.

You can massage the oil into your skin as well after a shower, leaving it feeling soft and moisturised. For a delightful and lingering scent, try mixing it with lavender or peppermint oil. You can even apply it on your lips if they are feeling chapped. It works wonders to moisturise your skin.

You can massage a small amount of liquid coconut oil into your skin, melting away your makeup and loosening it on your face. Then, all you need to do is rinse it off with warm water. It works as a fantastic and mess-free form of makeup removal.

You can even use it as an alternative to shaving cream for your body if you run out. Simply apply it to your skin at room temperature and rub it in until it takes on a creamy appearance on your skin. Following this, proceed to shave and rinse as normal. Using coconut oil also has the added benefit of leaving your skin feeling soft and moisturised.

To Conclude

Coconut oil is rising in popularity, and the number of people switching to it is continuing to grow each day. It can do wonders for your hair and skin, keeping them luscious, soft, and moisturised. Plus, it can even be used in cooking to create dishes with more flavour and a deliciously creamy texture. The joys of coconut oil are only getting started; there is so much more they have to offer.
